Food not for fuels THOSE Sandalistas who think bio-fuels will save the planet should take note of the Chinese decision this week to ban the use of food crops as a base material. With a bit of luck, the Chinese decision will hasten the use of non-food crops which -- if we persist in thinking bio-fuels are the answer to world tension --will also be a saner way to go in South Africa, rather than the existing crazy schemes which look like a recipe for disaster.
